Toddy, the official Cold Brew Sponsor of PRF, returns with the Cold Brew Championship in Colombia 2023.
How does the Cold Brew Competition work?
Competition Process:
- Mandatory virtual preparation meeting with Contest Coordinator Friday, August 25, 2023.
- Toddy will supply competition equipment: Toddy Cold Brew Cupping Kit (set of three), clean water, and choice of filter medium (paper or tree free).
- Competitors are responsible for coffee, signature drink ingredients, and any desired items not listed on the final equipment list.
- Day One: Competitors prepare their cold brew for a technical judge. Secure storage (room temperature or refrigerated) will be provided for brewing.
- Day Two: Competitors share their cold brew in a 10-minute presentation for three judges. Judges must taste two beverages:
- Cold brew concentrate OR diluted concentrate (minimum 30ml)
- Designer non-alcoholic drink featuring your cold brew concentrate
- Toddy-curated prize packages for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be awarded at 4 pm on September 15th. All competitors will receive a contest certificate.
Judging:
- The judging panel consists of:
- Technical judge: brewing technique (Day 1) and food safety in drink preparation & service (Day 2)
- Sensory quality judge
- Customer service judge
- The three scores will be totaled for a composite/final score.
Who can participate?
- 16 lucky competitors will be selected to compete in the Cold Brew Championship sharing their best cold brew.
- Participants must have at least two years’ professional coffee experience.
- While the competition is open to international applicants, we encourage presentations in Spanish to honor Latin American cultures represented at PRF.
- Applicants must follow all rules & procedures of the contest, including attending a mandatory virtual preparation meeting.
- Participants must apply and have a PRF Colombia ticket to enter the competition.
