Introducing Caravela Coffee, a PRF Colombia Host Sponsor

Caravela Coffee supports coffee farmers in Colombia and Latin America.

As announced in a previous news article, PRF Colombia has collaborated with a number of prominent Host Sponsors to facilitate this year’s Origin Trip Experience (OTE), which will take place in the beautiful Colombian countryside.

The OTE is a key part of the wider PRF experience. As part of it, guests will spend several days on Colombian coffee farms, engaging in a number of engaging and informative activities every day, which include visiting mills, roundtable discussions, and cupping sessions.

We’re delighted to announce that Caravela Coffee has just joined as our latest Host Sponsor. Let’s take a look at the company and its involvement with PRF Colombia.

Caravela Coffee is Host Sponsor of PRF Colombia and will be hosting coffee roasters on their farms.

Caravela Coffee: A profile

Since 2002, Caravela has sourced some of the finest coffees in Latin America directly from producers, and has become one of the region’s most prominent coffee exporters.

Today, the company has teams in several Latin American countries, including Colombia, as well as in the UK, USA, Australia, and Taiwan. Caravela oversees the supply chain from farmgate to roastery, and focuses on ensuring that consumers get the best quality possible, while making sure producers fully benefit from their hard work.

The company currently employs more than 200 coffee professionals and utilises more than 40 purchasing stations to access the finest specialty coffee in Latin America.

Caravela is also focused on guaranteeing quality and consistency, as well as delivering fair prices for farmers, excellent quality control, transparent supply chains, and traceable coffee. Furthermore, the company is dedicated to creating and maintaining long-term relationships between roasters and producers.

Another focus for the company is educating coffee farmers and their wider communities. Through its Grower Education Program, Caravela employs more than 40 educators in seven origins, helping producers to improve their offerings year-on-year and become more profitable.

Since 2014, Caravela has been a certified B Corp, and has ranked as the highest-scoring coffee B Corp in the world for five years running.

More about the Origin Trip Experience

As part of the OTE, roaster guests from all over the world will have the opportunity to stay on a coffee farm for three days, before heading back to Medellín for the two-day forum component of PRF Colombia.

During this time, guests will have hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of a Colombian coffee farm, and experience how some of the world’s best coffee is grown first-hand.

This is key to our mission across PRF events, which is ultimately to bring key coffee industry discussions to origin while also driving green coffee sales and promoting relationship building. In line with this, we expect that producers and roasters alike will build successful and profitable long-term trade relationships at PRF Colombia.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Caravela Coffee on board as an OTE Host Sponsor. To find out more about the OTE, subscribe to the PRF newsletter or get in touch with a member of our team today.
