Are you excited to cup coffees at PRF? For many roasters, cupping new offerings is a key activity at industry events. As such, we’re running a number of cuppings at PRF Colombia.
However, as we are taking every measure to ensure the safety of PRF attendees, a modified cupping protocol will be used to prevent cross-contamination while cupping. Here’s what to expect:
- Every cupping room will have four tables, each separated by at least 2 meters of space
- Disposable paper cups will be provided
- Crusts will be broken by a designated individual with a clean spoon
- Tasting tables will be disinfected between sessions
Each participant will then receive a tasting spoon and a cup for individual use. Keep your spoon from coming into contact with either your cup or your lips – instead, take a spoonful of coffee and pour it into the cup. Taste the coffee directly from your cup at all times, keeping the spoon only for transferring samples.
If you need clean implements at any point, no worries – spare cups and spoons will be available for those who need to replace them during the tasting.

Other Covid-19 prevention guidance
In the interest of keeping everyone safe, we also ask that you avoid travelling to the forum if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, or if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
Travel guidelines vary from country to country and are subject to change, so if you’re travelling internationally, it’s always a good idea to review national travel advisories before you depart.
We will be following all local government-issued guidelines, and Plaza Mayor has been awarded both the Check In Certificado (Check In Certification) seal and Operaciones Bioseguras (Biosecure Operations) certification by Icontec (the Colombian Institute of Technical Standards), in recognition of the safety measures in place.

PRF Colombia is now just days away, and we’re excited to welcome you to Plaza Mayor! Remember, you can catch the latest updates by signing up to our newsletter, or read the latest news about the event here.
See you in Medellín!
