What is PRF Seed?
Is an award that helps volunteer and scholar leaders who are committed to generating impactful ideas in coffee. PRF Seed is a recognition and support for those individuals who want to upscale the game by launching their entrepreneurship and hustle a big deal for their communities within the coffee production chain.
PRF Seed offers a prize pool of $10,000 USD 💰 to be distributed among a maximum of 4 winners. This seed capital can be a crucial injection to expand the reach and impact of the awarded entrepreneurship, allowing it to grow and continue improving its operational and strategic activities and boost the coffee production chain.

We have discovered that our volunteers and scholars at each PRF are trusted leaders, dreamers and go-getters with innovative ideas worth seeding. Seed capital is crucial because it allows entrepreneurs to take their business idea from the conceptual stage to a point where it may be more attractive to investors for further funding. It provides the necessary resources for the initial planning and development that can help prove the viability of the business concept.

What is the PRF Seed Process?
PRF Seed follows a phased and participatory process that involves the PRF community on social media and a panel of expert judges. Here is an overview of the program’s dynamics:

Public Voting 🗳️
- Participants who want to compete in PRF Seed register their entrepreneurship.
- The videos of properly registered initiatives are shared on the official Instagram profile of Producer Roaster Forum.
- Only followers of PRF on Instagram can vote (give "likes"). Public voting is a crucial part of this stage.
- At the end of this stage, the projects with the most votes (“likes”) and specific criteria like purpose, impact and business model are identified, and the four finalists are internally selected.
2.
Selection of Finalists 🏁
- Internally, the selection of the four finalists is conducted based on the projects that received the most votes in the public voting.
- These finalists will represent excellence in community leadership and entrepreneurship in the coffee industry and will advance to the next stage of the program.
3.
Presentation to Judges 💻
- The four finalists will have the opportunity to present their entrepreneurship to a panel of judges, composed of national and international experts, during PRF Guatemala 2024. Each presentation will be limited to five (5) minutes, on March 7.
- During these presentations, the finalists can explain their projects and why investing on them before the judges and the audience in attendance at the "Los Presidentes" auditorium of Anacafé.
- The judges will evaluate the finalists' presentations and, after a review and deliberation process, determine how to distribute the PRF Seed prize pool of $10,000 USD among the 4 finalists.
This dynamic encourages active community participation and ensures that the winners are chosen fairly and transparently.
DISCLAIMER
- Registration for the PRF Seed program DOES NOT cover visa fees, travel costs (airfare or ground transportation), airport/hotel transfers, costs for accommodation, meals, and public transport.
- All the expenses associated with the attendance or stay before, after, and during the event (except for the tickets to PRF Guatemala) will have to be covered by the attendee.
