The Soil of Excellence Championship will evaluate soils using Pfeiffer chromatography, analyzing both soil quality and coffee cupping results. Participants’ soils will be analyzed and scored based on soil health and cupping scores. This comprehensive evaluation aims to highlight the crucial role of soil health in producing exceptional coffee.

Rules

• Registration:
  • Deadline: Until September 6, 2024.
  • Requirements: Participation is exclusive to coffee farm owners or coffee associations in Colombia, and they must complete the registration form. 
• Pre-selection and Webinar:
  • Date: September 9, 2024.
  • Pre-selected candidates will receive an invitation to a webinar, during which detailed instructions on sample collection and shipping protocols will be provided.
• Sample Submission:
  • Deadline: Until September 20, 2024.
  • Samples must be sent following the instructions provided in the webinar.
• Finalist Selection:
  • Date: September 27, 2024.
  • Finalists will be notified and must send additional coffee samples for cupping before October 4, 2024.
  • Finalists must also present a review of their story and project, accompanied by photos and/or videos.

Award

• Date: October 17, 2024, during PRF: Farm Summit.
• Each finalist will be recognized according to their ranking.
• Finalists will receive comprehensive soil analysis reports with recommendations, as well as chromatography analysis.
• The complete lots of the finalists will be purchased with a guaranteed minimum price: FNC base price of the day + 30%.
