Toddy, the official Cold Brew Sponsor of PRF Colombia 2022, has confirmed that it will host a dedicated cold brew competition at this year’s event.
The event will take place over both days of the forum at Plaza Mayor in Medellín, with the winner and two runners-up set to walk away with fantastic prizes.
Here’s a breakdown of the rules, competition requirements, and the prizes up for grabs.
How does the competition work?
In total, 20 competitors will face off at the Toddy Cold Brew Championship at PRF Colombia. The aim of the contest is simple: use one coffee of your choice to produce the very best cold brew you can.
Day one will see competitors complete the brewing process. A technical judge will be on hand to score brewing according to set criteria.
On day two, competitors will need to present their drink in three formats:
- Pure concentrate; minimum 30ml
- Diluted concentrate; minimum 30ml; ratio at competitor’s discretion
- Designer non-alcoholic drink; must contain competitor’s concentrate
Three sensory judges will score each drink according to set criteria.
In terms of equipment, each competitor will be provided with a Toddy Cold Brew Cupping Kit (set of three) and will be permitted to use either Toddy SB Paper Filters or Toddy SB Tree Free Filters.
Water and other resources will also be provided, but competitors must supply their own coffee.
What prizes are on offer?
Of the 20 participants, just three will come away with prizes. There will be two runners up and one overall winner, who will get the grand prize.
