International travel considerations
What do I need to enter El Salvador?
While most visitors from Europe, Australia, and the Americas will not need a travel visa, it is best to check the official entry requirements associated with your country prior to departure. International visitors to El Salvador are currently required to purchase a travel card upon arrival; this costs US $10 and will need to be paid in cash.
Which airport should I fly to?
El Salvador’s international airport, Oscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez Airport (SAL) is located in San Luis Talpa, about a half hour drive from the capital, San Salvador.
How can I get from the airport to the city?
We recommend arranging an airport shuttle directly with your hotel – you can ask if it offers this service ahead of your arrival. Local taxi services and Ubers are readily available both at the airport and within San Salvador, or you could rent a car.
Do I need travel and health insurance?
Attendees are encouraged to secure travel and health insurance prior to departing for El Salvador.
